Mikey Cook new-age hiphop single “Wylin” [Featured Artist]
16 SeptemberUSA Blog Network
Long Beach artist, Mikey Cook, brings a soulful twist to Californian pop through his latest offering, “Wylin”. Clocking in at three minutes and three seconds precisely, “Wylin” proves to be a sweet fusion of genres. Cook does not sing his verses conventionally. He barters orthodox vocalization for raw, organic melody; whirling from word to word with an idiosyncratic, soulful drawl. Elements of hip-hop can likewise be tasted in the mix; bleeding beautifully between Cook’s bars and hook. Where the influence of Andre 3000 is unquestionable. Lastly, by way of his instrumentation’s nature and groove, it’s hard not to feel the static of electronic dance music. A joyous, bubbly melody is backed by pulsating kicks and snares; adequate for any unfinished EDM mix you’ve been concocting. What these parts in tandem serve to show, is Mikey Cook’s matchless ingenuity. What he harbors, aside from pure performance talent, is the ability to mix and match opposing styles of music in a way that completely breeds his own. The West Coast wild-card is fated to make a distinct splash in contemporary pop music. After one listen, you’d be “Wylin” not to agree.

Octobor brings all sides together with new-age banger “Thing” [Music + Interview]
14 SeptemberUSA Blog NetworkRight now, North Carolina is in a state of emergency. The monstrous Hurricane Florence is whipping towards the Tar Heel State, spurring mass panic and evacuation throughout the eastern south. Despite imminent catastrophe, one man in particular remains tucked in Willmington; comforting his mother, who refuses to flee. That man is rapper/producer, Octobor, and through his interview with USA Blog Network, the Southern artist makes it clear he and his family have zero intentions of leaving. Through his recent release, we come to learn exactly why: North Carolina is his “Thing”, and will remain so until there’s no more North Carolina left. Rolling in at three minutes and thirty-one seconds, “Thing” is an exceptionally lax banger. It rivals the incoming hurricane by being a poised, tranquil breeze of a record. Over the gallop of trap drums, and automated whirl of the track’s ambient background, Octobor smoothly coasts. Absolutely nothing about his flow or delivery comes off forceful. He sounds completely at home in the comfort of speakers and a microphone; which ultimately translates into a gracious trap anthem. “Its a northside thing, southside thing / eastside thing, westside thing—“ he chants effortlessly throughout the chorus, shouting out every region his home state has to offer. Being a beacon for North Carolina in the hour it’s needed most. “Thing” is a relatable smash just waiting to explode across the mainstream. If he continues to push it, showing the world just how much talent he has to offer, every month of the year will be Octobor’s.

Beatmaker/Artist, Tanner Mitchell Zingsheim aka Spectrum Bender new song “V01D” [Music + Interview]
12 SeptemberUSA Blog Network
There’s a pure, shining spirituality dwelling within Wisconsin singer/producer, Tanner Mitchell Zingsheim’s, recent cut, “V01D”. Under his alias, Spectrum Bender, the Colgate, devout Christian seeks to seal every last one of us in a vacuum of love; doing so through a marriage of poignant proclamation and prismatic production. The lustrous track kicks off with a buttery chord progression; satisfied solely by a recurring kick-drum, and Bender’s gentle croon. It is incredibly minimal in the totality of its glory, before converging into several evolutions of grandiose, pop production. Once upon the hook, “V01D” accelerates its aforementioned kick drum into a progressive, four-to-the-floor rhythm, backed by glittering, electronic percussions. Eventually, these elements transcend into instrumental interludes, where a trotting kick and 808 snare carry a surge of intricate key and synth breakdowns. Near the end of this productive gorgeousness, we are circled back to Bender’s chorus, where he once again breathes “Into the void we welcome love”.
Verily, this Midwest talent puts God and Christ first; as there is a holy undertone to this entire creation. His attention, and furthermore, appreciation for detail results in a heavenly, pop opus only the heartless could reject. Even as “V01D” goes quiet, at the end of its two minute and twenty-seven seconds of excellence, that won’t be the end of your engagement with Bender. You’ll be dying to explore the rest of his magical catalogue.

Micky Munday releases newage trap anthem “Sauce” ft. Y2
09 SeptemberUSA Blog NetworkThe chances of you stumbling upon an upcomer with a track record of collaborations as impressive as South Central’s melodic, Micky Munday, is extremely low. He has rubbed musical shoulders with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, Young Thug, 808 Mafia, Kevin Gates, BJ the Chicago Kid, and a bevy of other breathtaking artist. Today the Californian creative is expounding on his 808 Mafia alliance with a new, Nonstop Da Hitman-produced single. Fresh and hot, ready for all of us to dip our ears into, is the club-shaking “Sauce”, featuring Y2. A colorful, yet tranquil chord progression initiates the record, rode by the early, auto-tuned adlibs of Munday. Briskly, the pound of an 808 kicks the track even further, dragging the rapper’s easy, melodious chorus along with it. It won’t take long for his infectious production and catching songwriting to seize you.
