New-age artist, JGAR (Just Good At Rapping) drops a dope new self-titled EP
09 NovemberAnonymousThe state of Texas has always maintained a pivotal seat on the altar of Hip Hop. From historical acts such as UGK, Scarface, Trae the Truth and DJ Screw, to the Travis Scotts, Sauce Walkas and Tay-Ks of our modern day, the Lonestar State has remained seething with talent. Today, a new face is appearing amid that throng; and where the previous ones have highlighted cities such as Houston and Dallas, this lyrical newcomer is looking to put a different region on the map. He goes by the name Jgar, and is proudly representing San Marco, Texas (the Tr36ix) through his latest, self-titled EP. “JGAR” comes at you with five, solid tracks of new-age, Southern Hip-Hop. It forgoes the heaviness and darkness of those aforementioned, Texan artists, in exchange for lightness and relaxation. Jgar is not overbearing on this project. His lyricism, delivery, features and beat selection all combine to create this chilled-out, smoldering environment. One thats perfect for your Saturday night, basement rotation. Put simply, “JGAR” is slow-paced, smoke-friendly trap music at its finest; with enough potential to give its creator a buzz across the Tr36ix, and open the Hip-Hop world’s eyes to what San Marco can provide.

Eddie Bars
On-the-verge artist, Eddie Bars new-age banger “Hot Head”
08 NovemberAnonymousAn airy, ethereal string progression, backed by a joyous prance of keys eases you into Chicago artist, Eddie Bars’s, unique, new single. Titled “Hot Head”, this joint is a moving, modern-trap orchestration by BeatsByQuez, which finds Eddie Bars at his most openhearted. Earthshaking, is the 808 which introduces Eddie’s passionate chorus, and drives the energy of the record through its tempest of raw emotion. Our Chitown vocalist uses this joint to chronicle his past and present mentalities. Alternating between a melodic hook and high-energy verses, Eddie Bars details how his once hot-headed persona has simmered into coals of blazing ambition. He has grown immensely; and with each crack of those hard-hitting trap snares, the rapper lets us all know how. Having now refined his mind-state, and refocused his energy on sobriety and success, Eddie Bars is more ready than he’s ever been before. To create awe-striking music, and lead the next tidal wave from the coast of Lake Michigan, into his Chicago home.

Zo the Scholar is a man on a mission with dope new EP “Power Move(s)”
06 NovemberUSA Blog NetworkBack with lyrics and flows galore, is Detroit-born, Carolina-based titan, Zo the Scholar, as if he never left. He totes along a spectacular, six-track project, “Power Move(s) EP”, and proves once again why he’s a jewel in the mine of modern, underground Hip-Hop. Its evident from the onslaught of the first track, “Blowin’ Up”, where a minimal, piano-driven trap production courts the artist through a flurry of charismatic bars. His Midwest-friendly, freestyle-esque flow is Zo’s greatest asset. When added to the already-impeccable instrumentals of “Tyra Banks”, “Doa”, and “Cold Feet”, these idiosyncratic, yet head-snapping bangers are birthed. As each record comes and goes, it becomes crystal clear how finely Zo the Scholar has sharpened his style. Tireless nights in the studio for our Charlotte emcee have garnered him an undeniable formula for new-age rap smashes. With “Power Move(s) EP”, he proves poised to crack open the earth, from the underground, and emerge among the next, promising wave of Hip-Hop’s talented.

"Dance With A Car In Pattaya" by SlickMick
04 NovemberAnonymousA trip to Thailand, back in 2016, turned tragic for SlickMick. He was crossing the street after a lengthy bus ride, when a car suddenly hit the Australian emcee, breaking bones and causing severe brain hemorrhage upon impact. Yet, what did break on this fateful day was SlickMick’s spirit; and although his sustained head damage now prevents him from creating new memories, it does not prevent him from creating memorable music. His recent offering, “Dance With A Car In Pattaya”, is a testament of that; being poignant, adventurous and confessional in every sense of those words. The record is glued together by a jazzy, melancholic piano sample, which is fulfilled by a steady, 90s drum loop. It is almost as if the song provides its own therapy session for the Sydney survivor; seeing as his verses float freely from his lips. Nonchalantly, he tells the story of his accident and its aftermath; with a lyrical narration that makes for a fledgling, hip-hop masterpiece. For it is records like these which are solidified in the history of the culture; and springs underground artist into the warm, rapid waters of the mainstream. Through his stream-of-conscious, confessional, freestyle-esque style, SlickMick has carved a lane all his own. One that is going to pull hundreds of thousands of fans along for the ride.
